Category IconHot Spring Music Mix

May 20th, 2008 by Brian

Spring has always been my least favorite season. For me, the clean smell and cold air contrasts unfavorably with the rich colors and cozy chill of autumn. But spring has plenty to redeem it, including the onset of warmer weather and copious amounts of album releases from artists I like. This year, Weezer and Death Cab For Cutie have both come up trumps and they feature prominently on this 2008 spring music mix.

A coiled spring

Weezer - The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)

Death Cab For Cutie - No Sunlight

The Shins - Little Boxes (Weeds Theme Song)

Born Ruffians - Foxes Mate For Life

Blonde Redhead - Spring And By Summer Fall

Billy Bragg & Wilco - Ingrid Bergman

Josh Ritter - Tonight You Belong To Me (with Blake Hazard)

Danny Michel - Young Americans

Enjoy!

The Shakers are OK… but not those wanker quakers.

Good stuff! I’d recommend the original version of Little Boxes by Malvina Reynolds for some good 60’s anti-establishment folk.

My goodness, Cook, you’re at it again! I recall a gold-tinged night last fall when you mentioned it being your favourite season, and now this. Spring is love. It reeks of chlorophyll and pollen. Strange spores ride sudden thermals, where little birds try their hand, er, wing, at first flight.
Where is your heart, Cook? And to think you’ve just spent 3 weeks in Italy. Shouldn’t start a sentence with “And”? No?
    Because of the sun.
Because soil chemistry hath curdled madly and wrought limey shoots packed with goodness.
Because the snow is over for a while.
Nothing wrong with fall, with autumn. I love it. But come on, man! This is the real McCoy…
