Mr. Cook’s Broccoli Noodle

25 minutes
4 servings
1 head
broccoli, cleaned and separated into florets
2 tbsp
vegetable oil
1
onion, chopped
2 cloves
garlic, chopped
1"
ginger, minced
1 package
Japanese udon noodles
2 tsp
blackened seasoning or steak seasoning
1 tsp
sumac
1/2 tsp
marjoram
1 tbsp
sesame oil
4 tbsp
soy sauce

Boil 54oz water in the kettle while you clean the broccoli and chop the onion, garlic and ginger.

When the chopping is done, heat the vegetable oil in a large wok over medium heat. When the water is done boiling, add to pot with the udon noodles and boil for 11 minutes. Drain when done and return to pot.

When oil is hot, add onion and stir until starting to get translucent, around 5 minutes. Add the garlic, ginger, blackened seasoning, marjoram, and sumac and continue to saute for another minute or two.

Add the broccoli stems and cook for five minutes, stirring frequently. Add the rest of the broccoli and cook for another five minutes, continuing to stir frequently.

When the broccoli is pleasantly firm, add the udon noodles, then drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil on top. Stir well to combine noodles with broccoli, onion, and seasonings. Serve hot, with a fried egg on top if desired.
